Hi, Dee and welcome! Thank you so very much. Your comments mean a lot to me. Yes, congratulations again on your blog's turning two! It was a wonderful tribute you wrote to your own process and what you've learned. There is no doubt that our blogs stretch us into new terrain, and for that I am deeply grateful. To share with like minded travelers makes the journey so much more worthwhile! Hugs! Kathryn xoxo

Hi Kathryn, this is a beautiful post about natives, and the initial image is very powerful, drawing the reader into your subject. I love how you journey and ask questions. It makes me think. Thanks for the good wishes about my blog too.~~Dee

Good evening, Joey! How dear that you know about huckleberries! Where?? We were trying to determine their range. :) They are very interesting. I think I may have to go back out to the coast for another round, freeze them and enjoy in more scones this winter. They take time to pick, but are so worth it. I'm glad you like the post. I know it's a bit afield, but not from my heart at the moment. The B/W photo is very old. Isn't it lovely? I'm enchanted by the basketry! Imagine the craftsmanship! Thank you for that big hug. So appreciated. xoxo Good night, dear. Kathryn xoxo

Dearest Kathryn ~ this post is stellar! I grew up on huckleberries and thought I might be the only person outside my community who knew what they were or who had tasted the earthy wild flavor (putting a blueberry to shame). And, yes, it would be you dear friend. Your header B/W photo holds my heart ... if that is your photo, you have certainly arrived in top form with that new camera awhile back :) Can't leave without returning your BIG HUGS!

Great post, mom! Fascinating! And, as I just traveled across a very large section of California, you've allowed me to experience lands with new eyes. Many thanks!
Love you,
Antonia

p.s. The huckleberries were yummy! ;-)

Hi, Sarah! I need to research huckleberries and see where else they grow. Blueberries remain my favorites. Thanks for the visit--always welcome! Kathryn xoox

I’ve always wondered what huckleberries look like – a lot like Maine wild blueberries. Interesting thoughts on ecology and wilderness protection. I’m all for it. Sorry to be so slow to visit – computer problems.

I'd say "well done", but instead will say "intrinsically and interdependently grown".

Good morning, Philip. This comment has left me in tears as I imagine that Native American woman chanting her blessing into those mountains on behalf of her tribes who tended those mountains for thousands of years. You describe California terrain so beautifully, Philip. I know we share a deep and abiding love for our state. I will be interested to hear what perceptions others have of their own native territories. Thanks for your very thoughtful comment. So appreciated. Kathryn xoxo
